• Nothing is released on silence alone
Questions

Ask before you trust us with anything.

  • What is Dead Man Wish?
A secure place to prepare instructions, documents and messages that can reach the right people when specific, verified conditions are met.
  • Will my messages be released if I just stop logging in?
No. Inactivity is never treated as proof of anything. Missing a check-in starts reminders, then asks the trusted people you named to check on you. Nothing is released without independently verified evidence and a human review.
  • Can I pause everything?
Yes. Emergency Pause stops any release for 24 hours, 7 days or indefinitely, from web or mobile, after re-authenticating.
  • What stops something being released to the wrong person by mistake?
Several things, deliberately layered. A plan cannot be activated until it names real recipients who have accepted, has a condition that is not merely a date, and — for sensitive material — has enough approvers. At release time every condition is re-evaluated rather than trusted from when it was set. Links are personal, short-lived and use-limited, and every access is recorded.
  • Can anyone at Dead Man Wish read what I store?
No. Each item is encrypted with its own key, sealed by a key held in a hardware security module. Administrators have no route to member content; that boundary is enforced in code and covered by tests that fail the build if anyone adds one.
  • What if someone falsely reports that I have died?
A report opens a review; it never concludes one. You are notified on every channel you have registered and can dismiss it yourself. Only independently verifiable evidence, reviewed by a person, can establish death, and there is still a final waiting period afterwards in which your returning halts everything.
  • How often do I have to check in?
You choose, from every 7 days to once a year. Signing in counts as a check-in, so most people never see a reminder. You can also confirm by tapping a link in the reminder email without signing in.
  • Is a will I prepare here legally valid?
Not on its own. We help you prepare and store the document and tell you what your jurisdiction requires, but execution, witnessing and notarisation happen outside the app and vary by country. We are not a law firm and do not provide legal advice. Have a lawyer review anything that matters.
  • Do the people I name need an account?
Only if you want them to be able to act — approve a release, or report a concern. Receiving something does not require an account: recipients get a personal link and are told what was left for them, by whom, and on what basis.
  • Can I delete everything?
Yes, from Privacy & consent in your account. Vault contents, recordings and their encryption keys are destroyed outright rather than hidden. A small set of records is kept where the law requires it — the security audit trail, anything already lawfully delivered, and the record of consent itself — and we tell you exactly what was kept and why.

Still deciding?

Create an account, record one message and look around without committing to anything. Nothing is ever released until you build a plan and activate it yourself.
